Fall 2008/ Spring 2009 Program

If your artist enrolls in the Studio 101 Art School Fall/Spring program, they will study art through a thematically-based curriculum. This year, Studio 101 artists will produce art work reflective of the theme: Time Travelers. During the 9-month program, students will learn and apply a variety techniques, concepts and use of materials as they have evolved through time. How did we go from cave paintings to chiaroscuro (rendering light and dark)?  What did artists do before Hobby Lobby? How has sculpture changed through the years? How did print-making come to be an art form? What artists really established movements in art? Where is art going from here? Your artist will experience the answer to these questions and more! From charcoal to metal to stone to many other materials your artist will learn to use a variety tools that have been used to create art through the ages. From Baroque Art to Pop Art, these young artists will gain an appreciation for art and it’s purpose in societies across the world. Specific techniques and learning how they have developed will also be of focus. The added bonus to this year’s theme is that your child will learn the concept of time, history, geography and social sciences. They will even develop, collect and bury their own time capsule that will contain their “mark” on time as artists! This year’s theme is sure to produce incredible art work, strong learners and an appreciation for the wonderful world of art.

The Fall/Spring program begins in September and runs through May. Tuition is $78/month. A security deposit of $78 and a $55* registration fee (both non-refundable) are due at registration. The security deposit will be used for May 2009’s tuition. (*$60 registration fee for “Studio Graduates”)
